Leoni Township officials hoping to install security cameras at township facilities

In an effort to reduce liability, surveillance cameras could be making a debut at certain township-owned facilities this year.

Leoni Township Clerk Michele Manke, along with the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety, is in the process of applying for a $5,000 risk reduction grant from the Michigan Township Participating Plan.

The grant would provide three cameras.Sadly, the iPad doesn't have either a USB port or an SD slot, but Apple sells the Apple ipad camera connection kit for £25.Police explain the benefit of installing Night Security Cameras.

“It's being applied for through the township’s insurance company, the company looks at things that will enhance safety and security of the township,” said Blackman-Leoni Township public safety director Mike Jester.

The cameras would have the capability to provide a live feed to the public safety department, but Jester said that option has not been discussed among township officials.

Manke said there have not been any incidents recently that spurred the grant application at the three locations,If you have a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, you know that the ipad charger has an LED indicator on it that turns orange or green depending on what the charge of the device is.
